About Scrapfold
Scrapfold is for the stage before the real zine: working out what goes on which page, how the spreads read, and whether the thing holds together once it is folded.
What it does
You pick a format that one or more A4 sheets can make, from an eight-page mini zine cut from a single sheet to a forty-page A5 booklet. Each page is a scrap of paper you can scribble on with a finger, a mouse or an Apple Pencil, paste photos onto, and type notes on.
When you print, Scrapfold puts every page in the right place on the sheet, upside down where the fold needs it, with the folds, cuts and staples marked. You can also print the blank templates on their own.
What it is not
It is not a layout tool for the finished zine. There are no fonts to fuss over, no bleed and no grids. Rough is the point: a draft you can fold in five minutes tells you more than a perfect file you have not printed.
Printing on both sides
Most formats print on both sides of the paper. If your printer does that by itself, the print page has a one-sheet test that shows whether the backs come out the right way up. If it does not, print the fronts, put the stack back in, and print the backs. The print page walks you through it.
Your drafts stay in your browser
There is no account. Your zines are saved in this browser on this device and are never sent to us. That also means clearing your browsing data deletes them, so use Export on the zine list to keep a copy of anything you would miss. We count things like how many zines are started and printed, never what is on them. The privacy page has the detail.
